I am very concerned at reports that Radio Ceredigion may be forced to close their studios in Aberystwyth.
This would not only result in job losses but would be a serious blow to local broadcasting and Welsh Language broadcasting in particular in Wales.
I hope the negotiations currently taking place will secure the future of the station and I have written to the Heritage Minister and to Tindle Newspapers who own Radio Ceredigion to stress the importance of this matter.
No trains, no courts, nos hospital, no radio. What next? The area is going downhill. No doubt a dirty great Tesco will also kill all the local shops too. It's really sad to see the local area and way of life destroyed.
ReplyDeleteHi Nick,
ReplyDeleteI wrote a couple of blog posts on the subject that you may wish to take a look at:

Perhaps the talented people in Ceredigion should get together and create an alternative radio station. It could even be an online-station, run as a registered charity, and staffed by volunteers. That's how Radio Ceredigion started - TRUE local radio, aimed AT local people, presented BY local people. That was before commercialism took over. Anyone interested in that idea?
